Thanks for checking out my web page. I taught English for 27 years in places like Iowa, Montana, Pennsylvania and Minnesota. After retiring from full-time teaching I married a fellow 1972 Crosby-Ironton grad, Rick Abear and began writing and painting with watercolors.
New activities often spur further education, and so I studied Creative Writing with Marilyn Moses at Central Lakes College in Brainerd and completed a correspondence course, "Writing for Children and Teens," offered by the Institute of Children's Literature (ICL). I am currently taking ICL's advanced course, "Writing and Selling Children's Books" and enjoying it immensely.
I love inspirational writing and have seen several such pieces published in an online magazine called Reflections. Two of my works they have published are, "What is in Your Hand?" and "The Glory."
Last year I took a writer's club challenge to "write a novel in November" and highly recommend the exercise to other writers.
Please feel free to browse the links below for samples of my work and more about my painting activities. I have various sizes of prints and cards available for sale. Please see my Abear Art page for ordering information.
